Mountain Biking in Kandy

Mountain Biking

As with other adventure sports, Sri Lanka’s terrain being so wide-ranging, offers many opportunities for mountain biking. Whether it is in the ancient cities of Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa or Sigiriya, or the tea plantations of Nuwara Eliya, or any of the wide variety of National Parks, you can combine a cycling stint into every holiday. Most of these trails are off-road, as Sri Lanka does not have designated biking paths, thus off-road mountain biking is the safer option.

Bicycles are a common sight in Sri Lanka as also a popular sport, so cycling enthusiasts will fit right in. Most of these locations offer a reasonable challenge unless you are specifically looking for tough trails. It isn’t unusual to cycle through small villages and having its hospitable residents coming out wreathed in smiles to extend warmth and hospitality.
