Pagoda Meditation Centre
Pagoda Meditation Centre, administered by Netherland born Buddhist priest now living in Sri Lanka, Ven. Olande Ananda Thera, is a convenient place to the ones who would want to stay in the city yet learn about meditation and Buddhism in their spare time.
Ven. Olande Ananda Thera ordained as a priest by Ven. Davuldena Gnanissara Maha Nayaka Thera in 1975 at Pagoda, Nugegoda and he received higher ordination in 1977. Then from the 1979 to 1884 this respected Thera has been teaching meditation at the famous Rockhill International Meditation Centre and now he teaches Meditation at the Pagoda Meditation Centre situated not so far away from Colombo in Pagoda, Nugegoda.
He and his guru who appointed him carry out an effective programme according to a time table. On every Sunday and Tuesday there’s an introduction to meditation which leads to guided meditation and it ends with a meaningful Dhamma discussions with the participants. On Sunday the programme is usually at 3 to 5pm and on Tuesdays the same programme will be at 6pm to 7:30pm at the meditation centre.
They have a special programme for children on 1st and 3rd Sunday of every month. It is in the morning from 8:30 to 10:30am and is conducted in English. You can bring your child or you can come alone for this session because people of all ages are welcomed by the priest to attend if they like it.
On Poya days you can observe sil, meditate and attend the Dhamma discussions on a full day programme from 6am to 6pm.
When you are visiting the meditation centre make sure to dress in white as a sign of respect and cover your shoulders and legs.
