Displaying the rich religious and cultural tradition of Sri Lanka, gathering Hundreds of monks in colorful robes solemnly
walking in the procession giving a unique sight, with Grand Pageant of Elephants, Dancers and Entertainment groups participating,
Navam Perahera is celebrated on Navam Poya day which takes place at the Gangaramaya Temple,Sri Jinaratana Road, Colombo 02.
The Colombo Nawam Maha Perahera is one of the most important religious and cultural events which was first started in
the year 1979. Year after year number of people attending the event has increased and already crossed over 1 million.
Significant amount of foreigners also gather here to experience the event.
Seating accommodation for 1,000,000 persons is provided free of charge on both days. The entire event is organized &
handled by the youth, associated to the Temple.
It’s moment one must not miss, if you are around Colombo, Sri Lanka.
