Overview

Ayurveda – literally “the science of life” – is a traditional system of medicine that aims to achieve balance of the body, mind and soul through the use of indigenous ingredients and special therapies.Almost any health problem can be addressed, though those who wish to maintain holistic good health need not have a particular ailment. The Ayurveda Pavilions has recently won recognition as one of the best spas in the World Travel Awards, so her vision has become a reality.

Guests are seen by qualified doctors who examine them and determine which treatments should be prescribed according to individual aspects of body, mind and soul. The process is totally personalized and truly holistic. Because treatment is carried out within the guest’s pavilion, you can relax afterwards and allow the medicinal oils to soak into your skin without the need to cover up.

The holistic approach results in a vast array of treatments. Most can be taken in the privacy of the guest’s pavilion – but some, such as the sauna, need to be taken in the hotel’s treatment centre, which is modelled on a traditional Ayurvedic doctor’s surgery. Here you find the usual array of jars and bottles with miscellaneous contents ready to be pummeled, crushed, boiled or chopped according to the treatment.

Rooms
You are then taken to your apartment, which consists of an open-air treatment area, a grassy clearing and a bungalow. Throughout the hotel, space is emphasized so that guests never feel hemmed in despite the individual nature of the pavilions. As if this wasn’t luxurious enough, you can also soak up Ayurvedic goodness, in the form of specially prepared bath concoctions! The rooms have high ceilings and beautiful natural furniture that makes you feel comfortable. TV and music systems are provided - but only relaxing music so as to encourage the balance of the mind and soul.

Dining
At the restaurant, sunlight is seen slanting through the rafters of the roof, providing a stunning natural effect. The menu draws on the country’s gastronomical heritage and the staff explains each dish to patrons so they know what they are eating and how it will benefit them. Not only is this informative, for it gives the diners the feeling they are eating carefully prepared, home-cooked food. At the end of your stay, there is a final consultation with the doctor, who charts your progress and makes recommendations. In this way the benefits of your holiday can be extended after you have left the cocoon of the Ayurveda Pavilions.
